Job Title: Computer Technician Wage/Hour Status: Nonexempt
Reports to: Director of Technology

Primary Purpose:
Perform on-site technical support. Install and maintain computer equipment, network and software applications within the district. First line technical support; respond to work orders and trouble tickets in a timely manner. Diagnose and repair equipment failure when required.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Two year degree in Information Technology and/or two years’ experience in desktop support, computer installation, maintenance and repair.
- Any CompTIA or equivalent certification are a plus
- Any software or hardware certifications are a plus
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to install and repair computers and associated peripherals
- Ability to install and maintain network cables and hardware
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of District Policies
Experience:
- Minimum of one year work experience as computer technician or as determined by the District
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Installation
- Install and upgrade computers and peripherals throughout the district.
- Install network cabling and network peripherals throughout the district.
- Relocate computer hardware and peripherals as needed.
- Install and configure software as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Equipment Repair and Maintenance
- Diagnose and repair computer equipment, peripherals and associated software and hardware
- Service equipment according to established Preventative Maintenance Schedule
- Maintain accurate records of Preventative Maintenance
- Maintain records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service
Safety
- Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
- Use extreme caution when working around high voltage.
- Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any concerns to Supervisor immediately.
- Operate safely on ladders, lifts and other elevated areas.
- Operate safely in attics and crawlspaces
Other
- Operate within the Tech Dept. workorder system
- Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
- Safely Operate an automobile
- Teachable with a good attitude
- Arrive to work on-time
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None
Equipment Used:
Hand tools, test equipment for repair and installation of computers, peripherals and cable, hand-truck (dolly), pallet jack, van/pickup truck.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Climbing stooping, bending, and kneeling: carrying equipment, frequent use of small hand tools and electronic test equipment; frequent inter-campus travel. Work occasional prolonged and irregular hours. May be required to be on call technician, available 24 hours.
